About Free App submission limit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi MS,

I have some question about what is the maximum number of Free apps that a developer can publish?
    I just found this:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windowsphone/help/jj206719(v=vs.105).aspx

and it says: "An annual Dev Center subscription is $99 USD plus any applicable tax. For that, you’ll get to submit unlimited paid apps to Windows Phone Store. You can also submit up to 100 free apps."

    1. It is not clear what 100 free apps means:
      - a.) is it means 100 published free app OR
      - b.) is it means 100 free app submission chance (each free app updates counting)?

    2. It is not clear that is this 100 free app submission limit
      - a.) for one year? OR
      - b.) for the lifetime of your account?

    3. Is there any place on the Dashboard where a developer can check their free app submission count?

    Thanks!

    Tom

  • Hi Tom,

To clarify, each year you're granted with 100 free app submission credits. This should only apply to new submissions and not updates to existing free apps. If you renew your subscription the app credits will restore to 100.

    I hope this information helps.

  • The 100 free tokens are not valid

Just got denied by MS upon completion of submission of my 5th app!

(Total apps submitted to marketplace :-5)

Stating that "There aren't any submission credits for free apps left. Contact support for more info."

On contacting support the guy stated that you have to fill out some form to request more tokens

Tried stating to him that i have right to 100 tokens without all that form filling and that the 5 app limit was in the past

Still yet to receive reply :-(

  • Correct answer is "a"

In fact, if you try to submit an app but it fails during certification this attempt will ruin one of your submission tokens.

So at the end of year, you might have less than 100 published apps because of failed attempts during submission.
