  Extending Windows Server 2008 R2 Server System Certification

  Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 migrated from mainstream support to extended support on 1/14/2015. Normally, Microsoft no longer accepts server system certification submissions for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 beyond that date.  However, we have received feedback requesting an extension of the deadline to allow continued rollout of current generation server platforms (based on Haswell) with similar OS support to the servers that have already shipped.  Based on this feedback, and effective immediately, we are extending the submission deadline as follows:

  • Server system certification submissions will be accepted for Windows Server 2008 R2 through 8/31/2015
    • This applies only to the scenario described above (current generation Haswell-based server rollout)
  • Servers certified for Windows Server 2008 R2 will receive an automatic grant of the Windows Server 2008 Logo (unless otherwise requested by the partner)
  • Server system certification submissions for Windows Server 2008 R2 will not be accepted after 8/31/2015 

  * Please note that driver and device certification requests may continue to be submitted through the end of extended support as normal (1/14/2020)

  WLK 1.6 active errata extended into 2015

  We have updated all active errata filters for the  Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.6 test kit. All errata that were fixed in the kit were expired. All active errata that weren't fixed have been extended until December 1, 2015. (This extension date shouldn't be considered an indication of the kit's retirement date.)

  You can  check the status of all errata on the  Hardware Dashboard. To narrow down the list, use the filters to view only active, expired, or expiring within 30 days. You can also search by ID and title.

  Errata expiration guidelines

  We've updated all active errata filters for the Hardware Certification Kit (HCK) 2.0. All active errata that
  weren't fixed in the test kit are now extended until 9/30/2013. We'll reevaluate
  all active errata again about 3 months before the new expiration dates. We'll
  either retire errata or extend the expiration date again, depending on whether
  fixes are in place for the test issues. A few errata are set to expire between
  now and 9/30 by design for delayed enforcement reasons or because fixes were
  implemented into the next HCK release. Those errata won't be extended again.

  You can check the status of all errata anytime on the Hardware Dashboard. To narrow down the list, use the filters
  to view only active, expired, or expiring within 30 days. You can also search by
  ID and title.

  [How-to] Merge .hckx package

  Merge .hckx packages

  HCK Studio supports merging packages into one new package. This
  feature gives you the flexibility to distribute your tests across different
  projects, machine pools, and/or other HCK environments. Once each package is
  successfully created, you can merge them using the Merge Package option.

  1. From HCK Studio, click Connect.
  2. Select Package option, and then click Browse and open the one
     of the existing .hckx package you want to merge.

     Note
     You must open an existing .hckx package to enable this scenario. The original .hckx package will not get modified.

  3. Select Package tab, click Merge Package.
  4. From the Open dialog, select an .hckx package you want to
     merge.

     Note
     If you accidentally selected the wrong package, exit the project and start over. You cannot cancel a merged file.

  5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each additional package you want to
     merge.
  6. Click Create Package.
