Microsoft’s Discovery & Collaboration Team develops cutting-edge solutions for internal Microsoft use. The applications are
customer showcases for custom and Out-Of-the-Box development of Microsoft’s IW platform. Discovery & Collaboration
Team creates many business solutions needed for the Microsoft intranet sites and web-based line-of-business applications.
The team has developed innovative solutions for the internal MSW, ITWeb and MSLibrary portals. Their mission is to develop
high quality solutions that can be shared among many portals as well showcase their individual design.
The test team in Discovery & Collaboration has the ongoing challenge to help build reliable, high performing, production
strength systems in a continuously changing environment. Applications are improved through the development of test tools,
white box testing, as well as maintaining regimented process from development through deployment.
Discovery & Collaboration is looking for testers to join the team in Beijing. As a collaboration of the United States team in
Redmond, you will help define and deliver quality new applications and production systems for Microsoft’s information
workers. You will have a large role in defining, managing and executing the Quality Assurance processes and test
deliverables. Working closely with PMs, Devs, operations and business peers, you will need to strike a balance between the
business requirements, the customer experience, and testing methodologies. The fast-paced agile development cycle will
require you to use many testing methods which will depend on the solution being tested. This will require heavy SharePoint
configuration knowledge, black box testing principles, as well as test automation skills.
Primary Responsibilities
• Collaborate with internal and external application, development, test, and business teams
• Write/follow test cases and test plans
• Execute the test
• Configure Environments for testing and development purposes
• Build applications and create/verify build validation tests
• Write and verify bug reports
• Perform and write C# test automation (including unit tests)
• Facilitate debugging and diagnosis of issues
Qualifications
• At least 5 years or above testing work experiences, through maturity release
• Fluent both in English and Chinese. Being able to read and write English is a must
• At lease BS/BA in computer science, or related discipline
• Strong in design, programming in C# or C++
• Require deep understanding of testing and debugging experience in C#, ASP.net, XML/XSLT, DHTML, Ajax, and
JavaScript
• Strong demonstrable knowledge of automation frameworks and techniques, and test tools like code coverage tool
• Experience/knowledge of MS SharePoint
• Knowledge of MSBuild, VSTF, and SharePoint is a plus
• Strong knowledge with SQL Server solutions is a plus
• Excellent written communication skills
• Excellent prioritization and scheduling skills
• Understand both Agile and the Waterfall development methodologies
• Ability to deal with ambiguity
• Attention to detail and the ability to master new applications and technologies quickly
