How to fix MetaBase Permissions to work with custom AppPool Identities RRS feed

  • 问题

  • I am tring to help a client that wants to enable IIS compression on a number of apsx websites all of which use a seperate IIS AppPool Identity if i set the app pools to run as network service they compress as expected when set to run as custom Identity no compression occurs.

I had found an article http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sudeepg/archive/2009/02/23/iis-compression-failure-compression-disabled-status.aspx that said you need to add some special permisions to the metabase and you can do that with the metabase explorer so i installed metabase explorer changed permisions it worked until i restarted the server at which point the permisions where no longer the same and compression stopped working

I had set permisions to ensure that the iis_wpg group as the permisions listed in the article as the custom appPool identities are already members of that group

this is occuring with IIS6.0 windows server 2003 enterprize fully patched
