Windows Server 2012 Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services) Missing Performance Counters

  • Hi All,

I would like to query or understand where or why the following performance counters are now missing for Windows Server 2012 Terminal Services, now known as Remote Desktop Service.

The missing counters are under the Terminal Services Session counter collection and the counters are:

    Input WdBytes
    Input WdFrames
    Input WaitForOutBuf
    Input Frames
    Input Bytes
    Input Compressed Bytes
    Input Compress Flushes
    Input Errors
    Input Timeouts
    Input Async Frame Error
    Input Async Overrun
    Input Async Overflow
    Input Transport Errors
    Output WdBytes
    Output WdFrames
    Output WaitForOutBuf
    Output Frames

    Total WaitForOutBuf
    Total Frames
    Total Compressed Bytes
    Total Compress Flushes
    Total Errors
    Total Timeouts
    Total Async Frame Error
    Total Async Overrun

    Total Async Parity Error
    Total Transport Errors
    Total Protocol Cache Reads
    Total Protocol Cache Hits
    Total Protocol Cache Hit Ratio

  • Look under RemoteFX Graphics and RemoteFX Network categories in PerfMon......

  • Thanks Mathew,

But under RemoteFX Graphics and RemoteFX Network Objects there isn't a single missing counter from Terminal Services Session Object.

Only these counters are available under RemoteFX Graphics and RemoteFX Network Objects

    RemoteFX Graphics:

    Average Encoding Time

    Frame Quality

Frames Skipped/Second - Insufficient Client Resources

Frames Skipped/Second - Insufficient Network Resources

Frames Skipped/Second - Insufficient Server Resources

    Graphics Compression ratio

    Input Frames/Second

    Output Frames/Second

    Source Frames/Second

    RemoteFX Network:

    Base TCP RTT

    Base UDP RTT

    Current TCP Bandwidth

    Current TCP RTT

    Current UDP Bandwidth

    Current UDP RTT

    FEC Rate

    Loss Rate

    Retransmission Rate

    Sent Rate P0

    Sent Rate P1

    Sent Rate P2

    Sent Rate P3

    TCP Received Rate

    TCP Sent Rate

    Total Received Rate

    Total Sent Rate

    UDP Packets Received/sec

    UDP Packets Sent/sec

    UDP Received Rate

    UDP Sent Rate

Do we need to configure the machine to enable those missing counters?

  • Sorry about that.  I was thinking of another  issue.

did you list out what was on the system?  lodctr /s:"perf backup1.txt"
