Dashboard Driver Updates, DUA process: What changes/updates are allowed?

    Question

  • I've read this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/test/hlk/user/create-a-driver-only-update-package

I've used the DUA process to change strings, IDs, etc. inside an INF file.

I   DUA stands for "Driver Updates Acceptable".

But I can not find a list of acceptable udpates I.e. what is allowed/acceptable and what is not.

My question is, what updates to the driver package are acceptable using the driver update package Dashboard process?

It seems I can edit/change the INF file.  Can I rename the INF file?  Can I rename the .SYS file within the driver package (and corresponding INF edit)?  If not renaming the .SYS file itself, can I rename the Service name (an edit to the INF file)?

    Thank you,

For DUA submission, you can modify some parameter in INF (0x1 to 0x3 … )

But you cannot change/modify any other file in the driver package (sys, dll, dat … ) due to them will compare with previous driver package when you upload new DUA package to Microsoft.

    Thanks, Steve
