Windows 8: Replace/Extend inbox A2DP/HFP implementations

    Question

  • Hi,

A2DP/HFP specifications contains a number of optional features that may be demanded by specific customers. Also, new versions of A2DP (1.3) and HFP (1.6) are adopted by Bluetooth SIG, but Microsoft Stack is qualified with A2DP 1.2 and HFP 1.5 only (https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=12854).

Is there any documented way to extend existing implementations of A2DP/HFP to provide some custom features? If no, then is it prohibited to replace existing implementations of A2DP/HFP with custom implementations?

  • There is no way to extend the A2DP and HFP profile drivers that are included in Windows 8, but 3rd parties can create their own A2DP and HFP profile drivers to fully replace them.
