VS2008 C++ ATL Project WITHOUT .Net RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Hi, I'm required to build an ATL COM component that does not have any .Net dependencies. If I create a C++ ATL project in Visual Studio will the COM components I create require .Net to be present on the target machine? If so, is there a way in VS2008 to create a COM component that is pure C++/ATL?

    Thanks,

    Rich

  • I don't think you need .Net dependencies but you still need CRT and ATL runtime libraries installed on the machine.  You can create the setup project to deploy the runtime libraries.

  • Thanks. I was (obviously incorrectly) assuming that all C++ projects created in VS08 were "managed" C++ projects and would thus require a .Net runtime.
