WHQL certification for external device RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I have an external device like card reader. And it appears as unknown device on Windows Operating Systems.
Do I need to get WHQL certificate for that? .If yes, then can you give detailed procedure.
And I have already checked https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsdesktop/en-US/newthread?category=windowsdesktopdev&forum=whck

    Thank you

  • Sounds like Windows doesn't have the drivers for the external devices. If you are the driver creator for the external devices here is the start of how to get a driver certified:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/compatibility/

If your not creating the driver but just purchased the device, check the manufactures web site for a driver as it sounds like the driver is not being offered from windows update.
