Why WIA Driver pops up error message for "Scan Both Sides" in Windows Server 2019 OS when Display Settings Text Size changed to 150%? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Community,

    We have installed our WIA driver and configured Scanning Device on Windows Server 2019 OS.

    We changed System Text Size to 150% from "Display Settings" and rebooted the system.

    After system start up, we invoked WIA UI and selected "Source" dropdown option as "Feeder(Scan Both sides)".  Making this change pops up below Error message:

     "Failed to initialize selected paper source".

    WIA behavior on Windows 10 OS with same Settings is working fine.

    Is this known issue of Windows Server 2019 OS ? Is MS providing any fix for this in future build or update?

    Please find screenshot:

  • Hello Community,

    Please reply to above query.

    In addition to that we have found below details in wiatrace.log.

    WIA: 2404.3304 458204 0 0 [wiaservc.dll] ERROR: ValidateWiaDrvItemAccess, Application attempting access of disconnected item (000001616DC30380), returning WIA_ERROR_OFFLINE
    WIA: 2404.3304 458204 0 0 [wiaservc.dll] ERROR: CWiaItem::ReadMultiple, ValidateWiaDrvItemAccess failed (0x80210005)
    WIA: 2404.3304 458204 0 0 [wiaservc.dll] ERROR: ValidateWiaDrvItemAccess, Application attempting access of disconnected item (000001616DC30380), returning WIA_ERROR_OFFLINE

    Scanner Device is not offline still WIA_ERROR_OFFLINE status is returned.

    Also, we could not find any reference for ValidateWiaDrvItemAccess method in MSDN.

    Please share us the details about ValidateWiaDrvItemAccess method. Also, why log is showing this call as Fail when Scanner device is not offline.

    Regards,
