WDK for Windows 8.1 OS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have built driver with Windows 7 X64 build environment and tested on Windows 8.1 OS.

Driver works well without any issues.

    My question is:

Whether I can continue using Win7 X64 build environment for Windows 8.1 or should I use other updated WDK.

    Thanks,

    Raphel

  • The general rule in Windows is use the latest WDK that supports the earliest version of Windows you are going to use the driver on.  This is a guideline that works well since you have the newest and best tools.  Also these days if you want to support Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 the signing requirements are different and the Windows 10 WDK provides the tools to deal with all of them.
