Chang registry value RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to change from inside of my application(C++) the registry subkey value on following address:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\FTDIBUS\...\0000\Device Parameters\LatencyTimer

    The function RegSetValueEx(...) returns ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED.

Is it possible to change permission to this key to "write" from application?

    Thanks in advance

  • The Enum subtree is reserved for the system and any tampering with it is not supported.

You can change permissions - there's no magic there - but writing in the enum subtree from application is wrong and unsupported design. Do this only for development purposes, like debugging the driver or installation. Another entity that can write there is device coinstaller (like, you can add your coinstaller to the FTDI's driver).

    Good luck,
