HCK 2.1 - Testing Lower Filter Driver for physical device RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are developing a lower filter device driver for a PNP device (ACPI node created by the BIOS). The node has a driver already installed. We install the lower filter (SYS). Both drivers are displayed from Device Manager on the client system. When we try to select our filter driver from the HCK Console, it only shows the physical device (and the original driver for the device). None of the console options allow us to select our filter driver - infact only the original driver is displayed in any option. We have tried this on 2 client systems, one running Win7 64bit and other running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit and they both have the same problem.

How do we test the filter driver ? Do we run the test on the device (which displays the original driver name under the selection) ?

    Regards.

  • Look for your driver under "software device" on the Selection tab of the HCK Studio.  Your filter driver should appear there.

  • In addition to what Dilesh said, sometimes filter drivers show up under a device. If you can't find the filter driver in the "software device" view, try using the search box in the "device manager".
