WHCK USB MS OS Descriptor related test fail

    Question

  • Hi,

While testing WHCK  for a webcam the following tests failed

      • USB Selective Suspend test(xHCI),
      • USB MS OS Descriptor Test (xHCI),
      • USB Device Control Request Test
      • USB Descriptor test

All these tests failed with same following error -

"Failed request for MS OS descriptor. If not supported, device should STALL request. TEST_STATUS 0x4000400e."

Please see the image for details.

Please let us know if anybody has any ideas, pointers/links to solve this.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi,

Read about MS OS descriptors here

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/gg463179.aspx

Its seem your device doesnt support it so the device should STALL the USB request and that is all the error message is saying. You can verify this by using USB analyzer (Lecroy etc).

  • The error you see means the device is failing tests that cover chapter 9 of the USB specification. If a device does not support the descriptor request then the device must STALL.  The error gives the suggestion on what the device needs to do in order to pass.

Error: 0x80004005, Unspecified error   Failed request for MS OS descriptor. If not supported, device should STALL request. TEST_STATUS 0x4000400e   File=testsrc\driverstest\usb\cvmodified\wlk\usbhctxhci\common.cpp Line=684
