Reserverd Property on the Azure App Service for Linux RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have noticed that I am required to set the "Reserved" property to true to create an Azure App Service for Linux resource when using SDKs, ARM, and Terraform.  What is the purpose of that property? What makes it required to be set to true compared to Windows App Services? This terminology adds confusion since there is Reserved resources in Azure and App Services fall into that category too.

  • Most of the ARM templates are exactly the same for both Windows and Linux App Services. By default, the templates will create a Windows App Service. By including the reserved field, this tells the ARM service that you are wanting to create a Linux App Service instead. Other Linux fields such as LinuxFxVersion are not enough to inform the ARM service you wish to create a Linux app.

Please let me know if there are any further questions or concerns.
