How do I specify the password of a new user created by the API of the blockchain workbench? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I have deployed an Azure workbench here https://votemaadi-4bm4ew.azurewebsites.net/.

So using the API (POST /api/v1/users ) I have been able to create a new user by specifying first name, last name and a new email id.

But, if i need to now login as this new user, how do I get the password? Also, the new user is not reflected in the users section of the Azure Active Directory.

I would be happy to get any clarification about it.

  • Were you following a tutorial? If so can you share the link? Blockchain Workbench users need to exist in the Azure AD tenant before you can assign them to applications and roles. To add users to Azure AD, use the following steps:

    1. Sign in to the Azure portal.

    2. Select your account in the top right corner, and switch to the Azure AD tenant associated to Blockchain Workbench.

    3. Select Azure Active Directory > Users. You see a list of users in your directory.

    4. To add users to the directory, select New user. For external users, select New guest user.

for more info see this doc: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/blockchain/workbench/manage-users#add-azure-ad-users

Blockchain Workbench users need to exist in the Azure AD tenant before you can assign them to applications and roles. To add users to Azure AD, you can follow this document.

The users will have a temporary password when you create them. If you forget it, you can reset the password on Azure portal.

Also you need to look into Authentication using Azure Active Directory
