mdb database update in VB.NET RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi,

    I have an VB.NET application which uses a connection string to connect to a local mdb file ie.

    strConn = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source='database path name'"

    and a data adapter to update this database. If I run this app in WinXP the database is able to be updated with no problems. However, this only works in Vista if I have UAC turned off otherwise I get an OleDBException.

    Is there anyway to bypass the UAC when updating this database?

    Cheers,

    Tim.

  • I was storing this in C:\Program Files\AppName ... but I managed to fix the issue but storing the mdb in the application data folder!
