Porting Windows App to normal desktop application RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to make an application which uses a xbox 360 kinect with a nice interface and DirectX. The problem is that windows apps for 8.x and 10 do not support the kinect SDK 1.8. I know the SDK works with regular desktop applications, but I would still like to use XAML to make my interface.

Is there a way to do this?

If I import my xaml files into the desktop application and I change the project properties to the right settings (activating windows runtime environment), I get the errors that it can't find my .g.h files for the xaml files so it doesn't generate them. How can I make this work?

Here are some of the errors I'm getting:

    1> App.xaml.cpp
1>f:\onedrive\documenten\studies\master\thesis\thesis_winand\application\application\directxpage.xaml.h(8): fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'DirectXPage.g.h': No such file or directory
1>f:\onedrive\documenten\studies\master\thesis\thesis_winand\application\application\common\deviceresources.h(17): error C2039: 'SwapChainPanel': is not a member of 'Windows::UI::Xaml::Controls'
    Any help is appreciated!
