SharePoint 2013 list not displaying for a user RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a user that can view a SharePoint site but when they go to a list on the site they cannot view it. They have edit access like other users that can view the list with no problem. Any idea on what to check? Tried google chrome/IE and both do not show list for this user.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • Hi

Do the users get access denied message or see a empty list?

  • There are some factors which impacts the view:

1.)check the permission level. The list might have unique permission (detached permission from parent)

2.)check if you are in "viewallitems.aspx". They might be accessing other list view which prevents items to be displayed.

3.)check the site quota. Your site might be exceeding it's allowed sized. Contact your SP Admin.

4.)check the site where your list is hosted. Navigate on serverside and look if it's utilizong resources, request for apppool recycle.

5.) Clear cookie browser. Close all your browser. Hard Refresh, and log in again.

  • Hi Cbutterflies,

To troubleshoot this problem, you can refer to the following steps:

If the user is unable to view the list item.

1.Please check Versioning Settings in List Settings, if you enable “Require content approval for submitted items” and the Approval Status of the list items is Pending or Rejected, users with read permission still cannot see the items.

2.Make sure there is no filter like “Created By [Me]” of the view.

3.Make sure the items of the list don’t have unique permissions.

If the user is unable to access the list.

1.Check if the list interrupts permission inheritance.

2.Check if this user has the corresponding permissions in the list.

If the problem persists, remove the user and give permission again.

    Best regards

  • Hi, just empty list. Links and Title show but middle is empty space where list normally displays for other users. Ty.

  • Hi Cbutterflies,

Have you tried the following steps?

1.Make sure there is no filter like “Created By [Me]” of the view.

2.Change the view to default view.

3.Go to list settings- advanced settings and check Read Access. If it is set to read items that were created by the user then users will be able to see only theit own created items. You may need to set read all items option here.

4.Remove the user and give permission again.

    Best regards
