Teredo Addressing RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi everyone,

I want to know that whether it is necessary to set public address of Teredo Interface like  2002 : 0000 :/32 at the client end initially or it will begenerated dynamically at the time of connecting to the seed server. Currently the Teredo client is showing address in the format of fe80 : .. assigned by the system.

I am trying to connect a public server which is using 6to4 tunneling and the address showing there is in the format of 2002 : 0000 : / 32 ..  Can  a teredo client easily connect to another client that is using 6to4 tunneling.

Plz give the response as soon as possible.

    Thanx in advance.

You still don't have the Global IPv6 address. Hence, the Global cloud has not been started. XPSP2 with PNRPv2 update should have all the commands as compared to vista.

  • Hi Sandeep,

If your machine is a domain joined, you need to enable Teredo explictly using following command.

netsh interface ipv6 set teredo enterpriseclient.

Teredo is a transition technology which tunnels IPv6 traffice over IPv4 UDP packets. You need to configure your edge Firewall accordingly. You can find more information on Teredo at.

    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/network/ipv6/teredo.mspx.

It looks like, currently you don't have a Teredo addresses. The Teredo prefix is 2001::/32. If you are in XP and the Teredo prefix is 3FFE:831F::/32, then you need to install the MS06-64 update.

If you have already installed the PNRPv2 update in XP, that already took care of MS06-64.

Please let me know if you need some more information.

    Thanks,

    Pritam

    Hi Pritam.

    Thanx for the response.

I tried PNRPv2 and now it showing address in the format of 2001 : 0000 :/32.

Problem 1)  I want to connect my pc to another client (it is a public server) using teredo. I want to give some details :

    i) I am using Terdo Tunneling

ii) Another client is using 6to4 tunneling.

iii) Most of the time all interfaces are connected.

iv) When I run this command on another client's machine it shows the following message:

Command : netsh p2p pnrp cloud> show name

Output       : Could Not Started (0x80980606)

                                 No more end points detected

iv) Some netsh commands are also not available there.

Plz tell me the reason of this error message. Is there any possibliity of another version installed on his macihne.

Problem 2) Teredo Tunneling is showing disconnected most of the time. When I use renew command, it shows Reconnecting, amd after some time it goes to disconnected state.

What are the possible reasons ?

    Thanx.
