SP 2013 Retention Policy on Library level - Dirty flag not getting cleared and expiration date not getting filled for all documents RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have a library on SP 2013. There retention policy is set on library level. But expiration date is not getting filled for all documents. Refreshed the policy. Dirty flag was set to true. Information Management Policy and Expiration policy jobs are running as per the schedule and are not in errored state. But still the dirty flag is not getting cleared. Also the expiration date is not getting filled for all documents.

    Thanks,

    Savita

  • Hi Savita,

To troubleshoot this problem, you can refer to the steps below:

1.Did you check the "Source of Retention"? There are two options under this setting.

It should be set as " Library and Folders ", to proceed Library and Folders based retentions.

2.Make sure you are taking actions on timer jobs for right web application .

3.What trigger conditions did you choose? Start a workflow or move to a recycle bin or something else?

You can select other triggers to see if they're working properly.

4.How many files are there in this library? Try switching to another library test.

    5. If the problem persists, try testing in another site collection.

You can refer to the following article, sometimes the content database confusion will cause Information Management Policy not to run:

  • Hello,

The issue is that expiration date is getting filled for some documents but not for all.
    Please find below information
1.Did you check the "Source of Retention"? There are two options under this setting.
It should be set as " Library and Folders ", to proceed Library and Folders based retentions.
       - We have Source set as - Library and folders

2.Make sure you are taking actions on timer jobs for right web application .
       - Timer jobs are running for the correct web application

3.What trigger conditions did you choose? Start a workflow or move to a recycle bin or something else?
You can select other triggers to see if they're working properly.
       - since it is condition based, trigger condition is start a Workflow

4.How many files are there in this library? Try switching to another library test.
       - Library has limited documents around 200

Related to the post provided I have already checked that library contains the below hidden field:

    _dlc_Exempt
    _dlc_ExpireDateSaved
    _dlc_ExpireDate

    Thanks,

    Savita

  • Hi Savita,

Is it the same issue in other site collection?

If there's no problem with other site collections, try de-attaching and attaching the content database which hosts the site collection

    Best regards
