nt namespace path for remote shares RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am noticing that remote shares can have multiple different forms when converted to the nt namespace path.  For example, it can be:

    \\lanmanredirector\;z:00000\<share>

    \\MUP\;z:0000\<share>

    \\lanmanredirector\<share>

    etc.

Is there a way a website, or some tool that I can use that dumps all the various formats for remote paths?  I am writing an application that requires I normalize all these paths so that I can do lookups on the nt namespace paths.  The problem I am having is that they seem to change from OS to OS.  I am using QueryDosDevice to translate from win32 namespace to nt namespace.

    Thanks
