How to publish your Windows 8 metro app to your website/ftp? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello all,

While I wait for the windows store to open for developers, I want to publish my app to my ftp server and post a link on my website. How can I do it?

In Visual Studio Beta 11 project page there is no Publish tab anymore.

  • You should not do that.
    Please learn about 'sideloading'.

         Ok, I get it!

Ether you distribute your app thru the store or your website, not both.

Another question, does anyone know when I will at the least be able to reserve a app name, since I need a dev account for that and you need to go a Microsoft's campus.

  • Hi MD175,

Thank you for your interest in developing apps for submission to the Windows Store. We recognize the frustration at having submission during this pre-release phase limited by invitation and open to certain markets. We are working with this set of developers to test our model and validate our services, and we have every ambition and intention to grow as quickly as possible. We also see that people have gone down the registration path without realizing these conditions, and we're going to provide clearer information up front to avoid that additional frustration. In addition, more pre-release registration codes will be made available through our dev camps. You can check here http://www.devcamps.ms/ later this month for Windows dev camp registration information.

    Thanks,

    Joe
