Reviews/ratings disappearing

    Question

  • I keep seeing reviews and ratings disappearing in devcenter. I can see a review in the dashboard one day, but the next day it's not there anymore. Some are still appearing in the devcenter app. I know that at least not all of them are removed by user(if this is possible), cause this happened with a review I my selfe made on one of my apps just to test. It was visible in dev center, but next day it suddenly wasn't there anymore.  What's going on??

    Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Hi Molvil,

    I also see this.

Hopefully this is just a displaying issue and we will not lost the reviews ...

  • What Microsoft do you saying about this?

  • Hello All,

The Dev Center app only provides data about apps for Windows Phone 8.1 and earlier that were submitted through the Windows Phone Dev Center, before the two Dev Centers were merged in July of 2015.

A new Universal Windows app will be released in the future which will provide data for all of your apps for the unified Dev Center.

Until then, you should should go to http://dev.windows.com to view all of your analytic data.

  • I'm noticing the same thing.

OP, can you unmark the "answer" so we can try to get a helpful one?

  • Unmarked the answer.

The reviews are actually dissapearing, and then reappearing, and then again disappearing.

I've been observing a review I have from Russia over a periode now and it has appeared and disappeared several times. It also affects the reported amount of reviews and average rating.

    This really should be fixed.

  • I still can't view the name/date/infos of the reviews.

Only the review text and rating.

  • "Please create a support request for assistance with this issue.

    -Eric"

@Eric: I created around 10 support request about other DevCenter bugs which are common bugs, not just only me effected. But I'm really tired about this!

I suggest to Microsoft to please test your DevCenter product carefully! I'm not your tester!
Do not think that you just put the product in live and the developers will testing it for free for you!

I do not belive that transfering app between accounts(with reviews, ratings etc.) is still NOT possible after 4 years!
AppHub later  DevCenter has been redesigned at least 3 times and this very important feature is still missing.

    I'm very dissapointed!

  • If you use the "Download Reports" link do the reviews show up in the file? For me, this file contains all of my reviews that have disappeared from the dashboard. I'm not sure what this means for reviews being displayed in the store tho.

The reviews that have disappeared don't seem to have any indication that they've been removed. i.e. they don't have the revised flag or any "unhelpful" votes.

On the plus side, some of the meanest reviews have disappeared from the dashboard. Maybe they've been reported as abuse. Of course, some nice reviews have disappeared also.

I want to answer to the users!

    I can't understand why:

    • Microsoft need up to 1 month to rollback to a working reporting system
    • Microsoft RARELY give a good answer on this forum
    • Microsoft has this forum in 10000 languages... I mean, if they can't give an answer in the main language how can I expect to get an answer in my language?
    • Every time I get a link to open a ticket or something like that, I return to this forum

Now I am in the same situation like the most developers. I can see the reviews on my Windows Phone with the app but on the web interface (where I can reply) I am not able to see the new reviews!

Is there a tiny, ghosted "Details" link instead? This is how it recently started displaying for me on mobile. It displays the date at least. Still have to download to see the device info.

  • 3 Months later and I still notice the inconsistency on this awful dev center dashboard website.
    That's ridiculous!

How can a rating or a review disappear?
Why do I see different numbers of ratings in the overview and details view?

    Come on guys! :-(

  • More reviews disappearing. Whats the hells going on. Why is there no public statement of acknowledgement that there is an issue and it is being worked on.

  • Oh my God I'm so tired of this right now! Got a lot of reviews the last days, and now many of the good ones have disappeared. Only the good ones! Get your act together now! This is totally unacceptable!

  • I'm not seeing any new reviews for my apps although GOOGLE analytics tells that people are doing those, situation has been like this for more than a week.

  • My experience with this is as follows:

I have one UWP app in the store, and there were several reviews and ratings showing up in the store (on web and in the apps) and within dev center (in the UI and in the reports), which after a few days disappeared again. Some of them would still appear in the dev center report for several days or even weeks, but already have disappeared everywhere else.

I do however have the impression that there's a clear pattern with the disappearance of reviews/ratings: In ALL the cases of disappeared reviews I have checked so far (I don't know the exact number, but at least five), the report showed that the review was sent from a phone running Windows 10 but not being one of the phones for which Windows 10 is already officially rolled out (i.e., Lumia 550 and 950).

That is, the "OS version" column in the reviews report shows Windows 10, and the entry in the "DeviceModel" column belongs to one of the "older" phones (such as 000-GB-RM-1038_1023, which identifies a Lumia 1520). Whenever that is the case, the review disappears again.

In other words, reviews/ratings sent from devices running preview versions of Windows 10 get removed - that's what i assume (could of course be wrong though).

This in itself would even make sense to me, and would be acceptable, even though for a small niche app like mine it certainly "hurts" to lose between one third and a half of all the ratings and reviews.

As to why there's no clear communication about this ratings and reviews behavior, that's much harder to understand for me.

  • hmm.. Yeah, you could be right. May be happening to reviews coming from Windows 10 preview versions. If that's the case I can understand and accept it, but there should have been some sort of communication from MS regarding that. The reviews could have been left in the report with some info that it's not visible to other users.

  • NO! It is NOT acceptable!

    Reviews should NOT dissapear!

This bug still not fixed after half year!!!
