Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Not Seeing SATA Optical Drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • The Lite-On DVD/CD Writer (Model No.: iHAS324-98Y) did successfully installed the Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit onto my new custom-built PC.  Few days later, I installed ASUS BR-ROM (Model No.: BC-08B81ST) and both drives were palying OK.  A week later, I installed LG Blu-Ray Writer (Model No.: WH10LS30) without a glitch.

Few days after that, as sson as I opened the Explorer to move files from internal HHD to an external HDD, I did not see any icon for the optical drive.  I thought I got virus but the Norton Utilities scanned no harm virus.  Then, I searched on the internet for a solution but nothing help even though I tried to delete Upperfilters and Lowerfilters because the Windows 7 cannot launch (or crashes) unless the previous configuration is restored.

After few hours I went thru the root cause analysis, I believe the Windows 7 update has contributed to this problem because I remember after the last time the PC installed the update during the power down, the optical icons in the Computer panel disappeared.  Did any member experience the same problem?  Does any member have the same conclusion?

Note:  I did contact Lite-On manufacturer and they told me the drive does not support Windows 7 but one thing keeps bugging me why it worked in the first place because I used it to installed the Windows 7 onto my PC.  My ASUS and LG models did work after I installed them even though they do not have Windows 7 Compatibility logo.
