[UWP] Display problem on Xbox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

    My app had a simple UI as below:

    <SplitView x:Name="MySplitView" DisplayMode="CompactOverlay"  IsPaneOpen="False"
                  CompactPaneLength="50" OpenPaneLength="150">
           <SplitView.Pane>
               <StackPanel Background="Gray">
               </StackPanel>
           </SplitView.Pane>
           <SplitView.Content>
               <Frame x:Name="childFrame"/>
           </SplitView.Content>
    </SplitView>

    It's normal on PC and mobile but on Xbox, I don't know why my app just shows contents in childFrame and nothing more (like hamburger menu etc).

    Anyone knows how to fix this?

    Thank you!

  • I tried to reproduce this issue with the information you have given and have been unable to do so. I have the following in my MainPage.xaml. When I run it on a PC or Xbox I see the same behavior - a Gray StackPanel with the Text "Text" in it and the contents of Child frame. What do you see on PC vs. on Xbox?

    thanks

    XAML in MainPage.xaml

    <Grid Background="{ThemeResource ApplicationPageBackgroundThemeBrush}">
        <SplitView x:Name="MySplitView" DisplayMode="CompactOverlay"  IsPaneOpen="False"
                CompactPaneLength="50" OpenPaneLength="150">
            <SplitView.Pane>
                <StackPanel Background="Gray">
                    <TextBlock Text="Test"/>
                </StackPanel>
            </SplitView.Pane>
            <SplitView.Content>
                <Frame x:Name="childFrame"/>
            </SplitView.Content>
        </SplitView>
    </Grid>

  • Probably because there is no hamburger menu?

  • No, my app had a hamburger menu. Everything is fine on PC and mobile, it just disappeared on Xbox.

  • Hi Mark,

    Is there any ways to debug an app on Xbox without having one?

  • No there is not. You can use a retail Xbox One console for development using Dev Mode activation - see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/xbox-apps/devkit-activation
