Migrating Windows 8.1 application to windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I'm fairly new to windows application. So I have an existing application that is built using C# on windows 8.1, I would like to migrate it to windows 10. Would like to know about the compatibility.? And also would like to know if I could get a proper guidance on how to do so(Maybe a link that gives a brief description on how to achieve this.).

    Thanks.

    Kamasky.

  • Here you go:

    • Move your code to UWP from Windows Runtime 8.x: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/porting/w8x-to-uwp-root

There's more documentation at the top of the page in the Windows Dev Center:

    • Get Started: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/getstarted
    • Develop: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/develop

  • Hi kamasky,

In addition to the above, you do not need to delete your Windows 8.1 package. You could directly upload your UWP package and then you can keep two packages for your app.

The customer who had your app on earlier OS (Windows 8.1) will be updated to your UWP package once they upgrade to Windows 10.

For more details, please refer to Adding packages for Windows 10 to a previously-published app.

    Best regards,
