Using WinForm and WPF in a solution RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to make my program like following.

Project A is a exe using WinForm.

Project B is a dll using WPF.

    A calls B.

    Is this possible?

  • Can you? Yes. The question is why would you. If project A is Winforms then project B should probably be using Winforms as well. If project B is using WPF then you wouldn't likely need it for project A since it is Winforms. WPF and Winforms can interplay but there are things you have to work around as documented here. If you understand and accept these challenges then it can work.

Alternatively either rewrite project A to be WPF or project B to use Winforms and much of your issues will go away. But without any knowledge of either app there is no way for us to know what kinds of issues you'll run into.

  • I have no idea if that works, but I'm assuming all the Microsoft DLL calls I've made for window functions are not in WPF. They work fine.

  • Hi,

I guess your DLL is a wpf control library, see the following link:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/wpf/advanced/walkthrough-hosting-a-wpf-composite-control-in-windows-forms

    Best Regards,
