(VS2015 Update 2) Disallowed version of file MakePri.exe RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm trying to upload my app packages to the Dev Center and I'm coming up against the following error:

Package acceptance validation error: The package XYZ_ARM.appx uses a disallowed version of file MakePri.exe (10.0.14295.1000). The following versions are allowed: < 10.0.10500.0; > = 10.0.10586.0 & < 10.0.11000.0. Please update your Visual Studio build tools and try again.

My guess is that this is down to Update 2 of VS2015. But does this mean that packages created with this version are unable to be uploaded to the store? None of the features in my app target the Anniversary Update specifically.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  • I have the same problem! Why does Microsoft surprise the fact the developers don't want to develop for Windows Phone platform? I have not been able for submitting my ready application for two days!

  • My friend, I have found the problem. Check MakePri.exe version here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\bin\x64

It seems there is a wrong version for MakePri.exe - 10.0.14295.1000 there

which spoils all package. I found the right version file in \x86 - 10.0.10586

and place it instead of wrong 10.0.14295 in \x64.

New installation of Windows Development SDK doesn't change x64 code,

    what makes error.

  • Hi all,

I see the same problem, and wonder if this is the workaround solution? Can we get confirm from Microsoft team?

    Thanks

  • Same problem here. AWONG430, are you by any chance running Windows 10 Build 14295 of Insider Preview? I wonder if it's fetching the wrong files when I install the SDK because of my version of Windows?

I'm not able to publish any apps as a result, been trying to figure out for two days. Reinstalled VS, deleted the Windows Kits folder and reinstalled the SDK from here. Nothing seems to have worked. My laptop installed the Redstone update automatically last week.

Also the workaround provided earlier did nothing for me. When I hover over the 3 MakePri.exe files (ARM64, x86, and x64 folders) they all show as the correct version 10.0.10586.212....

  • Hello All,

10.0.14xxx.xxxx indicates you are using the preview SDK.

Installing a preview SDK will prevent you from creating apps for previous versions of Windows that can be submitted to the Windows Store. See this documentation for further details.

Please install the current release (non-preview) to resolve this issue.
