API to search for available apps in Metro Store RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is there a C++ API to search/query the Windows App Store for available apps by publisher/name?  I would like to do this *without* launching browser or bringing up a separate UI to display the store.

    Thanks.

  • Hi alphageek18,

There are no API calls available for searching the Windows Store. As Apps which appear in the store are placed there after passing through submission and certification by Microsoft, so no external search is possible.

    Thanks

  • Hi ,

I think your issue should be raised in the Windows Store: Publishing Metro Style apps for Windows 8. I believe they will know more information of this issue than us, and I will move this one to that forum.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Best regards,
    Jesse

Sorry, but I'm having trouble making the connection about how that justifies the lack of a public API.

  • We have a pretty full snapshot of Windows store at http://win8review.com/apps/ - The original idea was to keep better track of reviews (aggregate by publicher, show for all countries, etc (ex: http://win8review.com/apps/developer/Microsoft-Studios-a608e50a15f6e75a4f6668c46b4ac980/reviews)

Since all of this runs off simple MySQL database, we could create a web API that one could call from C++, JavaScript of C# (or anywhere else) that would return that data you need.
