Generate AppxManifest.xml from command line RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm developing a Windows store app (Windows 8.1). I tried to use a 3rd party tool to speed up building time. Unlike packing app in Visual studio, build tool only uses cl.exe and link.exe, so it only creates .exe file. I think what I need now is AppxManifest.xml file in order to pack the app. But when I try to use msbuild.exe or Visual studio to build to pack app, my solution is rebuilt.

Does anyone know how to generate AppxManifest.xml from command line?

If I was wrong, please give advice

  • Hello,

You can firstly create your package manifest following How to create a basic package manifest for Windows 8.

For Windows 8.1 app, you could follow MakeAppx.exe to generate your package from files on disk.

    Thank you.
