[UWP] IndexedDB support in Windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • When building Windows 8 apps with HTML/Javascript and WinJS I had IndexedDB which I used for caching my app's data. Then, with WinPhone 8.1 IndexedDB was not there and I had to implement caching using `Windows.Storage.ApplicationData.current.localCacheFolder` so there's a big if (WinJS.Utilities.isPhone) in order to know what to do... what's going to happen in Win10. Will we have IndexedDB? what'd be the "right" way of implementing data caching in Windows 10 (UWP) apps?

  • I can't say if it will be there in the final version, but if it's not there now, then I doubt it will be later on.

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.

  • Right now it is there, should I assume it'll be there? Can anyone from the team answer that?
