Windows Store Analytics API RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are using the Windows Store Analytics API (link) to get our app-related data. We followed all the steps and successfully set up endpoints/REST APIs to get the app-related data. We tried getting different types of data that are mentioned here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/monetize/access-analytics-data-using-windows-store-services#call-the-windows-store-analytics-api, such as app acquisitions, add-on acquisitions, installs, error reporting data, stack trace for an error in the app, app reviews and app ratings.

The problem is, we were only able to retrieve data for some of these data types. We managed to get data of app reviews, app ratings and app acquisitions. However, we were unable to get any data for app errors (error reporting data, etc.) and even app installs. The query returned to us an empty JSON object, which is unexpected as there should definitely crash related data for the error reporting data.

This was the situation for one of our apps. We have another app in the Windows Store hosted under the same Dev Center account. We also tried getting the above-mentioned data for that app and even for that app, we were able to retrieve only app reviews, app ratings and app acquisitions. For this app also, we got an empty JSON for our error reporting data.

We are not sure why we are getting an empty JSON object for our error reporting data. We are thinking that there could possibly be some error on Microsoft's side.

Kindly assist with this matter. Thank you.

  • Hello,

Do you upload appxupload file as your app's package when publish it to the Store? To enable error report, you need to check the option below when you create your package.

Or do you mean you're able to monitor these report data through Dev Center dashboard but cannot get data via the Store submission API?

If so, you may create a support ticket through your developer account so that related team will review the specific case.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

  • Yes, we are able to monitor crashes data through the Dev Center dashboard.

But not able to get it using the Windows Store Analytics API as it returns an empty JSON.

  • We are not using the Windows Store Submission API.

We are using the Windows Store Analytics API. Below is the link to this API:

  • I suggest You open (premium support) ticket with microsoft. The API does not correspond to documentation and there are unimplemented parts...

We had issue where cab files are not downloadable and this was considered a "feature".
