WACK failure due to Internet (Client and Server) capability enabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • During store app generation, there is business & technical need to check the Capability: Internet (Client & Server) option in the Capabilities and also we must set WinRT Access as ‘ALL’ in the Content URIs tab in the project manifest file.

Without enabling Internet (Client & Server) option in the Capabilities, the mobile app login is getting failed when tested.

But we got failed certification from Microsoft Store during submission process as mentioning below:

    • Error Found: The app manifest test detected the following errors:
      • The Application cannot include an ApplicationContentUriRule with 'all' or 'allowForWebOnly' WindowsRuntimeAccess while any of the following capabilities are enabled: enterpriseAuthentication, sharedUserCertificates, musicLibrary, picturesLibrary, videosLibrary, removableStorage, documentLibrary, internetClientServer, privateNetworkClientServer.
    • Impact if not fixed: Apps that violate the Microsoft Store certification requirements can’t be submitted to the Microsoft Store.

So we please need support on how to upload the app into Microsoft Store as LOB by enabling above features.

  • Hi,

Are you using Cordova to build an application? This is a known issue in Cordova.

If not, you can modify the project by referring to the reasons given in the documentation.

    Best regards.

  • Hi Team,

The store certification for our Windows 10 UWP app is failing with the following error:

"Error Found: The app manifest test detected the following errors: The Application cannot include an ApplicationContentUriRule with 'all' or 'allowForWebOnly' WindowsRuntimeAccess while any of the following capabilities are enabled: enterpriseAuthentication, sharedUserCertificates, musicLibrary, picturesLibrary, videosLibrary, removableStorage, documentLibrary, internetClientServer, privateNetworkClientServer." In the application manifest there are several ApplicationContentUriRules which point to internal pages and the following permission are included internetClientServer, privateNetworkClientServer."

This app has been submitted before and it has always been accepted using the same permissions.

In order for the application to work both permissions are required. The application uses private VPN network and uses a web view control which needs to communicate with a server.

Were there any recent policy changes for store certification?

This is a critical issue for the application.

Is there a workaround to solve this issue?

    Regards

    Kamal Shaik

  • Hi,

The store’s policies haven’t changed recently.

Are you using Cordova to build an application? Your issue is a known issue for Cordova.

If not, please provide your minimum running demo for us to test.

    Best regards.

  • Hi Richasy,

Thanks very much for your response.

Yes, we are using Cordova to build an windows 10 UWP application. The app is already in production use by our customer.

The problem is we want to upload the app to store so that app distribution becomes easier.

We have already checked Cordova. It was mentioned that the network-related restrictions must be worked around by either using an API.
But, there was no API mentioned and existing network related API will only provide network connection state which is not helpful in this case.

We also mentioned reasons why we need this capability during app submission, but still got certification error.

How can we show minimum running demo to you? Our app login will only work if connected to the customer's VPN network which is not accessible to you.

    Please kindly support here.

    Regards

    Kamal
