Optical scanner

Question

Hi guys,

I'm currently working on a simple project where i need help on the use of an optical scanner. What i need to do is assign bar codes to items in a data base and also retrieve informacion about these items using a bar code scanner. I've never worked with a scanner n w'll appreciate all help any one can offer.
