UWP how to target on 1 language without language identifier on window 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to window 10 Universal Window Application.

    I have faced on a problem on the language. I have some folders and file name consist of some language short form ("af", "it"). So they are considered to be language resources. But I don't want to rename the path since it will affect my application.

    As I result, how can I ignore the checking on the resources since my application just target on 1 language.(en)

    It seems weird even my names just called it/CompIt.js. (it fail completely ignored my files)

    1>MakePRI : warning 0xdef00522: Resources found for language(s) 'af,it' but no resources found for default language(s):
    'en'. Change the default language or qualify resources with the default language

    I have tried to set the default languages, it doesn't work.

    Tried to change the appxmanifest, but it doesn't work.

    Also wanna if it is possible configure the MakePRI, I saw it is possible to create configuration file but I have no idea.

    I do hope anyone can help and give me a hint.

    Thanks

  • Sorry for my late reply.

    "af" and "it" are totally 2 different folder names and languages.

    where

     "af":{
            "name":"Afrikaans",
            "nativeName":"Afrikaans"
        },
    "it":{
            "name":"Italian",
            "nativeName":"Italiano"
        },

    Now i have to renamed to a longer name instead of.

    Thanks

  • Hi thomas__lee,

    I haven’t found a way for us to configure the MakePRI settings to ignore the resource check. But I have this solution, you can set your resource string for en-US like the following way:

    In that way I think you will pass the above error you showed. Since you already have the resource file for your default language.
    Would you mind to give it a try?

    Best regards
    Barry

  • Thanks, i am working on javascript side.

    in fact, my application is not going to support multi-languages. But my folder is named with "af" which is one of the languages (never heard of it) and I dont want to treat it as a language resources.

    Now all the files under that folder are excluded automatically and give me error when loading my application.

    I hope you can get what I mean. I want to exclude the checking on the languages on my folder.

    Otherwise, I have to rename my folder into another name.

    I want to follow the naming standard of the folder but somehow it is coincident with one of unpopular language. So I want to ask if any workaround to bypass or exclude the checking on the folder name.

    Really thanks for your help.

  • @Thomas,

    I got what you mean. Your folder is treated as a language in your js uwp project. Sorry for what I pasted as a xaml project. What I want before is to ask you create a resource for your English language then all your controls will display with the default language. It will not trying to load that af-it language folder.

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/Hh465254.aspx

    But I'm not so sure whether it will help you by pass this error so I want you to give it a simple test.

    But one problem is that I haven't found af-it in the language list:http://tools.ietf.org/html/bcp47

    I'll still try to think about a solution for it.

    Best regards,

    Barry

    Well that maybe the rule or temporary solution for this kind of issue. Thanks for the reply about this.
