Disconnected Message Queue with Pub/Sub RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are building a desktop app that runs in remote locations linked by slow Sat connections that are often up and down. We are looking at MSMQ because it can handle the disconnects. From what we understand, if the client sends to a remote queue and it cannot connect to it, it will store the message locally until it can. [If you think this is not correct, let me know].

HOWEVER, we are also looking at pub/sub, which MSMQ natively lacks with 3rd party software e.g. nServiceBus.

So we are looking at service bus, such as Azure Service Bus or Service Bus for Windows. However, how would a client app attempting to send a message to a Service Bus handle the network drops? With a Service Bus I don't think there is an equivalent to store the message locally on a temporary basis until connectivity is reestablished.
