  • What is the difference between Windows Form apps and Windows  desktop Software ?

  • Behind the scene we see in Windows Forms nothing then the classes, they are a part of Win32, the design is not portable, in another way, then copying a form and pasting that back inside another form, however, you cannot put the design in a file in another way.

    Windows (WPF) uses also Win32 but is build around XAML.  XAML can be saved as file, it is just text. 

    The result, in WPF you have very much more change on errors because of typos because in fact everything is done with text. On the other hand gives XAML in many cases you more possibilities to design. 

    However, XAML has very less possibilities then Windows Forms and WPF has a very big part of controls which are simply wrappers around Windows Forms.

    Be aware, Microsoft has stopped the renewing of Windows Forms, but I've seen also the last 5 years very few additions to WPF beside those Windows Forms wrappers.
