Cannot have on same machine working Azure Sphere SDK and OpenVPN RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot seem to have installed in the same time Azure Sphere SDK and OpenVPN.

    Scenario 1:

OpenVPN is already installed and try to install the latest version of Azure Sphere SDK

The setup unable to start Azure Sphere Device Communication Service with this error:

Unexpected exception thrown whilst starting service. SerialSlipToTun.TunInterfaceSetupException: Error access tun registry settings ---> System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: Tun tap device not found ---> System.Security.SecurityException: Requested registry access is not allowed.

Uninstalling OpenVPN (and the TAP-Windows, this I done the setup of OpenVPN), the Azure Sphere SDK work and everything is working Azure Sphere wise. OpenVPN does work.

    Scenario 2:

Azure Sphere SDK is installed, install OpenVPN, Azure Sphere SDK stops working, OpenVPN works

Using the steps from here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-sphere/install/troubleshoot-installation#device-does-not-respond

was able to get Azure Sphere SDK to work. OpenVPN stopped working.

    Scenario 3:

Have Azure Sphere SDK and OpenVPN installed but not working.

    Gone to C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin

    And run deltapall.bat

After run addtap.bat, change the name of the network adapter to Azure Sphere put the IP 192.168.35.1 and the mask 255.255.255.0.

    Run addtap.bat for OpenVPN.

Both services run. Yet on Azure Sphere command prompt I get this error:” The device is not responding. The device may be unresponsive if it is applying an Azure Sphere operating system update; please retry in a few minutes.”

Any ideas how to solve this?

    Thank you!
