Can't retrieve ISO two letter country code for Czech Republic using reverse Geocoding api RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I'm trying to use the

    http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Locations/49.538312,16.434312?key={MY_KEY}&includeEntityTypes=CountryRegion&incl=ciso2

    Due to the documentation here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/bingmaps/rest-services/locations/find-a-location-by-point
    I would expect to be returned an iso two letter code for the czech republic as the coordinates 49.538312,16.434312 are indeed located in the Czech Republic. Instead the API returns the following..

    {"authenticationResultCode":"ValidCredentials","brandLogoUri":"http:\/\/dev.virtualearth.net\/Branding\/logo_powered_by.png","copyright":"Copyright © 2020 Microsoft and its suppliers. All rights reserved. This API cannot be accessed and the content and any results may not be used, reproduced or transmitted in any manner without express written permission from Microsoft Corporation.","resourceSets":[{"estimatedTotal":0,"resources":[]}],"statusCode":200,"statusDescription":"OK","traceId":"90ae14f07ea34fcba25ecb217a666834|BN000021DF|0.0.0.1|BN01EAP00000996"}

    Which suggests to me that some data is missing.

    I do not have this problem for any other country, it only occurs for coordinates in Czech Republic

  • Hi, is there any update on this?

  • Hi Matt,

    Sorry, no update. This forum is closing and I won't be able to update you here moving forward but I can confirm this issue has been reported to the team and therefore should be addressed within two to three months of that report.  Likely sooner but if the data is from a third party supplier they will need to execute the fix and then we ingest it on their next drop.

    The new forums are in Microsoft Q&A with tags "Azure-Maps" and "Windows-Maps" or on Answers.Microsoft.com > Bing > Maps.

    Sincerely,

    IoTGirl

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your response, I was able to find a workaround on my end but I'll keep checking to see what is coming back from the API.

    Kind Regards,

    Matt
