O365 Console App authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to create/update a O365 group, add/remove members from the group using Console Application. I have created an Application in Azure AD and used the client id with the application and upon running the application it fails to authenticate:
AADSTS50011: The reply url specified in the request does not match the reply urls configured for the application: 'a5ca5d87-37fc-42e2-a230-2a3d08966514'.

    Request Id:  b065cebf-5927-407f-b700-c7c54df8c800

    Correlation Id:  16478875-8c00-4969-957d-f5cc32636a3b

    Timestamp:  2019-11-11T13:50:55Z

Message:  AADSTS50011: The reply url specified in the request does not match the reply urls configured for the application: 'a5ca5d87-37fc-42e2-a230-2a3d08966514'.

    Advanced diagnostics: Enable

I would like to embed the credentials within the application to authenticate. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Hey Raj Krish,

The reason you're getting this error is because the reply url you've configured in your AAD Application is not the same as the reply url you are sending to the authorize/token endpoint

    Which flow are you using?

For more information on this error see : https://blogs.aaddevsup.xyz/2019/04/aadsts50011-the-reply-url-specified-in-the-request-does-not-match/

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/jpsanders/2018/01/30/azure-app-service-error-aadsts50011-the-reply-address-http-azurewebsites-netsignin-oidc-does-not-match-the-reply-addresses-configured-for-the-application/

In addition to that, I'd like to say that if you are trying to follow the client credential flow you may have issues with updating an o365 group, since O365 is actually outside of Azure. Currently our product teams are working to make sure there are no issues with Azure and O365, however if you run into any issues with updating the o365 group, you may need to utilize the authorization code flow.

I have created a small console application that follows the auth code flow if you'd like to take a look at what it should look like : https://github.com/FrankHu-MSFT/ADAL-.NET-Console-Application/
