Office365 password changes in hybrid environment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I'm not sure that I ask this in the correct section, but I didn't find one about Azure Active Directory or Office 365.

    Situation:
We have a virtual on premise machine with the name 'DC01' that contains all our users. When a new user starts in the company, we make a new profile on DC01 Active Directory Users and Computers. This virtual machine is linked with our azure environment that syncs the users (Azure AD Connect). In the Azure AD Connect configuration I've enabled the following options:
    - Password Hash Synchronisation
    - Password Writeback

Within our Azure Active Directory environment the option 'selfservice for password reset' is enabled.

    Problem:
The users and myself (administrator) don't have the possibility to change our passwords. Every time an user or myself tries it, we get the message that 'the organisation doesn't allow us to change the password, please contact the administrator. This environment was configured a few years back by a different person and I can't find anything about this problem in his documentation and the solutions that I find on the internet are already implemented..

What am I doing wrong? Is there something that I can do? Is there something missing in the configuration?

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Regards,

    Nathan

  • Hi Nathan9000,

I looked into this issue however, wasn't able to replicate your error message.

I set up SSPR within my Azure Active Directory and successfully reset my password using the Online Password Reset Portal. Additionally, I turned off SSPR and received a different error message - something along the lines of, "my org hasn't set up password reset..."

    Questions:

Where are you going to change your password? i.e. On-prem, Azure Portal, Password Reset Portal.

Were you able to confirm that the correct steps were followed when setting up SSPR?
