I recently downloaded Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition (x86 and x64 WoW) from the msdn website associated with my college. It took about 7 hours to download this program. I went to install it and got an error message. I have been checking around online and have not found an answer to the problem. The error message i get is setup has encountered a problem while trying to copy: L:\setup\Vssetupwatson\dw20.exe. Since the file is an ISO i used Daemon tools to mount it to a virtual drive. Could this be the issue? Should I burn the image to dvd and then try or will I get the same issue?
Based on your description, it seems that your issue could be related to the corrupted installer.
If the installer is downloaded from the web site, could you please try to use other web browser or some download manager software to download it again?
After the installer has been authenticate, you might try the following points:
- Make sure, to disable the Anti-Virus software during installation - For the ISO image, either: - Extract the ISO image, to your local computer, that you have just created using the 3rd-party tools like Winzip or ISOBuster and run the installation from the harddrive/harddisk - Mount the ISO image to a virtual CD drive, using another 3rd party tool something like MSVCD, Daemon tools, and run the installation from here.
Hope this helps! If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.
