I have several project collections on tfs 2013, but I need to move to TFS 2015 which will be installed on a different server, is there any guide in how to do this properly?
Thanks

Hi David,
For this requirement, please try to detach collection database and attach it to TFS 2015, it will automatically upgrade. (Backup your database)

Take a look at this. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404869(v=vs.120).aspx
It is possible to move and upgrade in the same step.

Hello David,
You can follow steps mentioned in following post:
http://blogs.4ward.it/upgrading-tfs-2013-4-to-tfs-2015/
One thing to beware of after migration is TFS Instance Id. Make sure you fix Instance Id otherwise new TFS 2015 instance will still point to TFS 2013 database instance. Follow this link to fix it:
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/buckh/2006/10/17/creating-a-new-server-from-an-old-one-beware-of-the-instanceid/
Steps mentioned under "TFS 2010 instructions"are same in TFS 2015 also.
Hope this helps.
