Could not find a base address that matches scheme net.tcp for the endpoint with binding NetTcpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [http]. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi every one,

    I have developed a WCF service which is hosted in IIS inside the application. If I access that web service with http binding, it is wroking. When we add one more binding with nettcp, I am getting the below error message (but the same is working in my development server).

    "Could not find a base address that matches scheme net.tcp for the endpoint with binding NetTcpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [http]".

    We have updated the server side configuration like

    1. Activated the WCF services

    2. Enabled the Non Http Activation

    3. Also we have added the nettcp binding in the IIS

    Here I have attached the web.cofig file section

          <service name="CU5RASVhKOo" behaviorConfiguration="ServiceBehaviour">
            <endpoint name="ep1" address=""
            <endpoint name="ep2" address=""
            <endpoint contract="IMetadataExchange"
            <endpoint contract="IMetadataExchange"
                      address="mex1" binding="mexTcpBinding" ></endpoint>
                <add baseAddress="http://mydomain/services/CU5RASVhKOo.svc"/>
                <add baseAddress="net.tcp://mydomain/services/CU5RASVhKOo.svc"/>
            <behavior name="ServiceBehaviour">
              <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/>
              <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true"/>
            <behavior name="webBehaviour">
        <serviceHostingEnvironment multipleSiteBindingsEnabled="true"/>

    Kindly support on this issue. I have googled all the possibilities. I don't know where I made the mistake

  • Hello,

    >>but the same is working in my development server

    Do you mean that your services with the netTcpBinding and WebHttpBinding work fine in your development server? If so it may be related with the configuration on your test machine.
    As we all known that if we want to set up a netTcpBinding enabled WCF services on the IIS, we need to do some extra configuration, I know that you have done the configuration, but I am not sure if you have missed something, so please try to refer to this article to create the WCF Service by only using the netTcpBinding without the webHttpBinding to see if it works.

    Besides, I will recommend you enable the WCF Trace to see if it can give you more detailed information about the issue.

    Best Regards,
    Amy Peng
