  • Here's a page in the VSTO part of MSDN that describes how to create your own popup menu for Word

This should give you the basics of working with popup menus.

In order to add commands to an existing popup, you first need to determine to which popup menu (Commandbar) they should be added. In the Word 2003 UI go to Tools/Customize/Toolbars. Activate the "Shortcut menus" entry in the list. This will display a toolbar with three categories; these lists contain all predefined context menus. There are a lot of them, as Word recognizes many kinds of context. The caption of each list item is also the index value you can use to address the commandbar, for example: .CommandBars("Text")

You can also generate this list by looping the CommandBars collection to get all the names of Commandbars of the type msoBarTypePopup.
