  • I think the easiest solution would be to simply overwrite an existing Action Recording from MTM manually (see http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/microsoft-test-manager-action-recording-and-playback.aspx). Doing it programmatically is not supported.

  • This answer is not adequate. What if the test case recorded incorrectly (so that it cannot be played back)? In this case, editing the test case and re-running the test with overwrite will not correct the problem.

The only way to correct such a problem would be to edit the action recording itself. In this way, the test case will play back, and any coded UI test produced from this test case will be closer to correct, right from the start.

The only other option is to take the bad action recording and use it to create a coded UI test, fix the problem in the coded UI test, then finally come back and associate the coded UI test as the automation for the test step. It should be possible to fix such problems without resorting to the assistance of a developer.

WCF is Web Services. They are not two separate things.
Use WCF for All New Web Service Development, instead of legacy ASMX or obsolete WSE
Use File->New Project to create Web Service Projects

  • Agreed, why use action recording then if CodedUI records allow all the editing we want at anytime we want.
