Long running operation before DebugLaunch RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

we have implemented a custom debug engine and an own derived FlavoredProjectBase.

We are getting called from visual studio if the user presses F5 or wants to start debugging - everything is perfect.
But we have to transfer some file through the network which might takes some time, that is a problem because the call of "DebugLaunch" (IVsDebuggableProjectCfg2) is on the UI-Thread.

How can we handle that? We want to first synchronize us with the target, and afterwards starting the debug session?

    Thanks for any hint!

Does the operations (debug and  transfer files) are in different threads, if so, you could save a result in a txt file after you transfer the files. before you call the method "DebugLaunch", you could read the result from txt file and check the result.

    Best regards,
