Visual Studio 2017 RC Sign-In Issue RRS feed

  • Cannot sign-in to VS 2017 Enterprise RC.  I am behind a proxy.

    After providing my Windows account credentials, I am getting the following error: "We could not refresh the credentials for the account. An error occurred while sending the request."


    For the same reason providing feedback through the "Report a problem..." option in VS 2017 RC is not possible.

    However signing-in works well with VS 2015 Enterprise on the same machine.

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

    Restart Visual Studio. A proxy authentication dialog box should appear. Enter your credentials in the dialog.

    If the above step does not solve the problem, this may be because your proxy server does not prompt for credentials for http://go.microsoft.com addresses but does so for *.visualStudio.com addresses. For these servers, you need to whitelist the following list to unblock all sign-in scenarios in Visual Studio:

    • *.windows.net
    • *.microsoftonline.com
    • *.visualstudio.com
    • *.microsoft.com
    • *.live.com

    You can otherwise remove the http://go.microsoft.com address from the whitelist so that the proxy authentication dialog shows up for both the http://go.microsoft.com address and the server endpoints when Visual Studio is restarted.

  • Sorry, this does not solve the issue. Like said it works with VS 2015 but not with VS 2017 RC.

    I sign in on my, VS 2017 RC Community, Professional and Enterprise, they all succeed. couldn't reproduce the issue as yours. But I met some members encounter this about the Preview 5 and VS 2017 RC, see:

    If this still goes on, but not a better workaround has come yet, I would also suggest you back to use the VS 2015 RTM version to avoid this, coz the VS 2017 RC is under a beta test. Once the VS 2017 RTM is released, you could install it then.

  • I have a similar issue, But it works in the machine if that is not behind the proxy. The sign in is occurring only if it is behind the proxy.

  • yes,i have installed the 2015,but my classmate successed in updating the proxy in 2017 .They could login in  the vs2017 by microsoft account ,however,i failed.I think this is the point of the issue.I just dont konw why i could Not login in my id.

  • I am getting the same error in VS 2017 Community, downloaded yesterday.

    I have been on chat support with MS for over an hour.

    VS 2017 Community sign in is not working.

    Ug.

  • Was this bug in 2017 ever fixed?  I still have this exact issue today
