To read a Word Doc file (by C++)

Question

Hi,
1) How about the way to read all the texts in that and to also know with what features they're, like font size, font color and etc?
2) Is there one existing fixed format (of Word document)? For instance, for the case that we do expect to generate the output as one Word document.

Thanks. From that, it says the way was encoded by Microsoft. But does OpenOffice.org really provide a way for achieving the same thing?
